Ricky Is Out of The Closet Finally....But Why???

So..Ricky Martin is gay. *Gasp* Big shock right?? But do you know why he decided now would be a good time for stepping out of his not-so-secret-closet?? The reason may suprise you. I, along with the half of humanity that heard the breaking news, considered it a cheap publicity ploy. He must have a new album coming out soon, something along those lines. Then I read a little story on AOL.com.

"Paquita la del Barrio, who has sold millions of albums worldwide and whose songs are staples in jukeboxes in Mexico, announced that she would rather a child starve to death than be raised by a gay couple in response to marriages of same-sex couples in Mexico City. Two weeks ago, there was no word, image or story to contradict Senora la del Barrio in Spanish-language media -- just abstract stereotypes about being "gay." Today, our friend Ricky Martin, who we Latinos have known since he was 12, is that face – a gay man who is the father of two sons. He is the face of all those people Senora la del Barrio was attacking. Her job isn't so easy anymore."

I for one and very proud of Ricky knowing this information. He's not standing back and doing nothing. He's showing the world that not everyone is as small minded and petty as Paquita. You rock Ricky, and I'm sorry for being so quick to assume you were going for publicity. PS- when is the new album due out???
