Eddie Martinez, Jr. Is a 26 year old young man who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, on February 11, 2009.

Since his diagnosis, Eddie has endured intense cycles of chemotherapy with a month long stay’s at the hospital. We were praying for the chemotherapy to be a success, unfortunately it was not and now he must undergo a stem cell transplant.

Eddie’s insurance is denying him coverage for this life saving procedure, forcing him to not only fight for his life, but also raise enough funds to save his life.

Eddie is a smart, compassionate person, with a pleasant demeanor; he loves his family and greatly enjoys working with and helping people in need. He has a sharp sense of humor, and is adored by his family.

He is a hard working young man who has been employed since he was 13, and has always exhibited a great work ethic. At the time of his diagnosis, he was in the process of changing employment and was excited about the new job offered to him. Unfortunately, his illness prevented him from beginning his new job, therefore leaving him without income.

His family and friends are trying to help Eddie get the care he deserves and save his life.

Lookin' for lights????

One of my of my favorite holiday traditions has always been packing the entire family up in the car on a cold December night, wasting gas, and driving around ooing and awwing at the Christmas lights on everyone's homes! I can't tell you how many hours I have put in throughout my life reveling in inflatable santas, multicolored light bulbs, and fake snow! The hard part? Finding the best neighborhoods!!!! Now, with the economy being as it is....and who can blame someone for not wanting to shell out a few extra hundred dollars for electricity when we all have presents to buy.....and amazing Christmas light display is quite hard to come by. Trust me, I spent hours in my car last night with only a few notable neighborhoods to mention.

Here's a few of my favorites from last night. So tonight, pack the kids up, get snacks in the car, fill the tank, and head to any of these neighborhoods to enjoy a great show.

*Pretty much the entire neighborhood behind the Las Cruces Feild of Dreams. A ritzier division of Las Cruces, and they obviously saved in their budget to put on such a great display.

*Drive anywhere along Hillrise off of Telshore and turn into any neighborhood....the displas may be only one or two houses on any given street, but the displays I saw were worth the drive.

*ah, Picacho Hills. One of the nicest neighborhoods in Las Cruces. And their displays are some of the best I've ever seen. But a word of caution...stay along Picacho Hills Dr.......from there you will see all worthwhile displays...and you won't end up lost and driving up and down the saem road 15 times like I did!

Dear Santa,

It's almost that time again! I promise that this year I at least tried to be good. It's really not my fault what happened at the company Christmas party. I've worked my butt off, I rarely flipped off anyone at all, and I smiled at everyone I saw all year long. That's gotta count for something right?


So this year for Christmas this is what I ask for;



-For you to please wipe your feet off when you come in.....it took me forever to vaccuum up all the dirt you left last year.

-I'm not sure if you have this kind of power, but my daughter still isn't sleeping through the night....think you could help?

-new headphones for work....the ones I have now may become an electrical hazard in the near future.

- Oh! Oh! And chance to mingle with Dave Mustiain during the North American Carnage Tour in January:-)

The Pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'm officially getting old. I hurt my neck this past weekend. A pinched nerve in the vertebrae of my neck to be exact. I wish I could say I did it taming a wild tiger, or even trashing at some hardcore metal show. But no. Not at all. Instead, I was teaching my 16-month-old daughter the art of the "KISS tongue." You know...Gene Simmons?? Yeah, so we're thrashing both of our heads back and forth, sticking our tongues out and yelling "ahhhhhhh!" at the top of our lungs. Then my metal yell became a whimper of pain. Yep....I'm getting too old to rock out with my tongue out. But just because I'm getting to old doesn't mean I'm gonna stop!!!!

Coffin...or Vajayjay????

Metallica's "Death Magnetic." The album as lived up to Metallica's reputation....but the cover art is a controversy all it's own. Lot's of criticism has been flung that the "coffin" design actually looks more like a woman's naughty bits. I say that's up to interpretation....and my interpretation is that there are alot of sexually deprived people out there flinging this criticism. Trust me, the band is well aware of this perspective of their cover art...here's what Bassist Rob Trujillo has got to say about it.

Getting ready to rock the holidays....

'Tis the season! But when you get sick of all the jingle bells and harks from some Angel named Harold, then you know you can always count on us to keep rockin' your world. We're not big on Christmas music, not that we as the staff of the Rocket don't like it....I love it actually...well, most of it....but its just not right to have some crunchy dirty metal band and then to follow it up with Silver Bells. Know what I mean? But in light of the holiday season...Christmahuanakwanayulzakah is what I like to call it(yes, I have an overactive imagination and not enough creative outlets).......I wanna share a little Christmas love with you. Las Cruces City Cell Phone Ban....

This morning in the Las Cruces Sun News, a story broke about how LC's city council has approved a new amendment to ban cell phone use while driving a motor vehicle. It is a smart idea...I've almost taken out a curb or two in my day trying to reply to a text. For this reason, I don't even acknowledge my cell's existence while I'm in my car. So I do not blog today to knock the city council's decision. Instead I blog today to bring up an interesting kink in their plan. You see, every time I have the pleasure of driving by a LCPD cruiser, the police officer inside is usually more involved in their text conversation than driving safely. I have driven by more officers on their cell phones than I have my fellow motorists! These are the same officers who will be writing us all of those nasty tickets come the official ban in Feb. 2010. So who will be ticketing the officers? Really. Is it fair that I should pay the officer's salary with my taxes and then have to chug out another $120 in fines after I get pulled over for answering my cell? Keep in mind that it is a good 95% chance that I'll be pulled over by the very same cop who just got done hitting the send button on his own cell phone. Not fair at all. And I don't think the ban is a bad idea either, I would just like to know that LCPD has to follow the same rules as everyone else.

Green Day's new version on "21 Guns"

A few weeks ago, I broke a story on-air about how some musical guru put together a complete staged musical from Green Day's American Idiot album. The musical, it turns out, is a giant success. From is debut on a San Fransisco stage, to it's new home on Broadway, American Idiot is rocking theatrical audiences. And the band members too! So much so that Green Day is now teaming up with the musical's cast and has now released a new version of "21 Guns."

I hate hate hate when a certain genre dominates anything. Really, I do. Unless it's rock of course:-) Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga just can't keep up, no matter how popular the pop genre has become. That's because we have our own ladies of metal who are now poising to whoop some ass. I'm loving all the metal chicks that have been surfacing in the active rock category....and one who deserves the most credit I think is Lacey of Flyleaf. In Twinsburg, Ohio the police have pretty much everything they need to provce John Ford robbed FirstMerit Bank last week. They have his pistol. They found the Ford Escort getaway car, they even have the ink stained cash he ellegedly stole. What they don't have is the demand note he handed tellers when he pulled off the heist. Why? Converge or not???

This past Monday night was one hell of a concert. Adult Swim presents Mastadon and Dethklok.....killer show based on the title alone. I had some pretty high expectations walking into the Pan Am Monday night....but I left feeling a little uneasy.

Kicking off the set at 630p was High on Fire. They were good. Nice metal sound, great performance on stage, the whole kit-n-kaboodle. Next up was Converge......the band that can be blamed for this blog today. Converge did not impress me at all. I was actually quite let down by them. The lead singer reminded me a 4-year-old with unmedicated ADD and on a caffiene rush to boot. I was almost ready to go home and watch TV instead of stick around for the rest of the show. Then came Mastadon.....they rocked it. I loved their performance! I've heard some mixed reveiws from listeners about the Mastadon set....but personally, I think it was great. Dethklok needs no justification from me....they blew my expectations right out of the water. Metal metal metal!!! you can never get enough!

But now back to my topic on Converge. I had never heard of them before the night of the concert. Then, as is the way of the universe, they are all I seem to be hearing about ever since! A few friends of mine were a little hurt with my ADD interpretation of the band. So I'm willing to give them another chance.......I checked out Converge's myspace. I'm gonna say, they're recorded stuff is much better than what I caught live....but I'm still not impressed. So now they have another chance to prove themselves, because they are going to be making an appearance on Full Metal Jakki this Friday night (11/20). So check em out, and help me settle this war within my heart. I love metal, but I can't decide of this band is worthy of my love or not.

So Chester Bennington of Linkin Park fame has finally gotten that rock bug up his butt again. This time he's striking out with his new band, Dead By Sunrise. You've heard me spin "Crawl Back In" for the past few weeks on air. The band's got potential, that's for sure. Does the carpet match the drapes?

Well we don't have any drapes in the studio....so I can't say that it does. But we did get some brand spanking new carpets into the studios recently. Looks nice. I loved it! Until about 10 minutes ago...

One thing everyone knows about me....I'm not perfect:-) I stutter, I try to create new words and expect my listeners to know what the hell I'm talking about, and I can't remember someone's first name for more than 15 seconds. Its all part of my charm. The other part of my charm that you, as an auditory audience, misses out on is that I am a complete and total clutz. Really. Can't walk and chew gum at the same time, it is that bad.

So why have I declared our new and beautiful carpet as my mortal enemy? It all started when I sat down after a quick trip to the loo. I have a pretty comfy office chair I use when I'm on air.....that apparently refuses to glide smoothly over the new carpet. As I sat down, the wheels on the chair caught on the new digs in the studio....and I landed on my face...with the chair on top of me. Our GM is in the midst of installing security cameras throughout the building....and all I have to say is thank God that there isn't one in MY studio yet....or I'm sure I'd be a youtube sensation by tomorrow evening.

Welcome to my Blast Zone.....here is where i will allow the overflow of my show to collect. If you've been rocking out with me regularly, then you know how I am. I could NEVER possibly cover all of the cool sh*t that I find in just one afternoon, and I'm tired of jipping you out on the fun.

So from here on out.....when I find a something I feel is worth of my fellow rockers.....I'll BLAST it.
